Environments
Argentotetrahedrite-(Zn) is a new mineral, approved in 2020
Localities
There are two co-type Localities, the Kremnica Au-Ag deposit, Kremnica, Žiar nad Hronom District, Banská Bystrica
Region, Slovakia and the Lengenbach Quarry, Fäld, Binn, Goms, Valais, Switzerland.
At the Zvěstov deposit, Zvěstov, Benešov District, Central Bohemian Region, Czech Republic, argentotetrahedrite-(Zn)
occurs as irregular aggregates, up to 0.2 mm in size, partly rimmed by
kenoargentotetrahedrite-(Fe)
(MM 86.2.319-330).
At the Kremnica Au-Ag deposit, Kremnica, Žiar nad Hronom District, Banská Bystrica Region, Slovakia (one of the type
localities), arentotetrahedrite-(Zn) occurs as anhedral grains up to 0.1 mm in size, steel-grey in colour, with a
metallic lustre, in association with kenoargentotennantite-(Fe) and tiny
chalcopyrite grains in quartz
gangue
(MM 86.2.319-330).
At the Lengenbach Quarry, Fäld, Binn, Goms, Valais, Switzerland (one of the type localities), argentotetrahedrite-(Zn)
was found as domains of tristetrahedral crystal of tetrahedrite-(Zn), up to
1 mm in size, associated with dolomite
(MM 86.2.319-330).
