Localities

At the type locality, the Plan d'Argut deposit, Argut-Dessous, Saint-Gaudens, Haute-Garonne, Occitanie, France, argutite occurs in sphalerite as 10 micron euhedral to subhedral prismatic crystals. It is also associated with cassiterite, siderite and rarely with briartite (AM 69.406-412).
The deposit is formed in metamorphosed lower Paleozoic (541.0 to 419.2 million years ago) sediments (HOM).
