At the Oktyabrsky Mine, Talnakh Cu-Ni Deposit, Norilsk-Talnakh Mining Region, Taimyr Peninsula, Taymyrskiy Autonomous Okrug, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia, atokite has been found with pentlandite (Mindat photo).

At the type locality, the Atok Mine, Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality, Sekhukhune District Municipality, Limpopo, South Africa, atokite occurs as very sparse grains in concentrates of ore, associated with unspecified platinum tellurides (HOM).

At the Stillwater mine, Stillwater county, Montana, USA, atokite is associated with keithconnite and with palladoarsenide (HOM).
