Berndtite is a secondary mineral commonly associated with stannite, pyrite, cassiterite and sulphur (HOM, Mindat).

Localities

At the type locality, Cerro de Potosí, Potosí City, Potosí, Bolivia, berndtite occurs as a secondary mineral in tin sulphide ores as very fine inclusions in pyrite which has replaced stannite (AM 50.2107).

At the Arandis tin mine, Arandis Constituency, Erongo Region, Namibia, berndtite occurs in a high-temperature deposit, hydrothermally altered (HOM).

At Lagares do Estanho Mines, Queiriga, Vila Nova de Paiva, Viseu, Portugal, berndtite occurs as a secondary mineral in a tin-bearing pegmatite (HOM).
