Igneous environments

Bøgvadite was approved in 1987 but to date (November 2022) it has been reported only from the type locality.

Localities

At the type locality, the Ivigtut mine, Arsuk Fjord, Sermersooq, Greenland, bøgvadite occurs in the cryolite deposit as blocky crystals to 0.15 mm, with rounded and corroded faces. Associated minerals include jarlite, hydrokenoralstonite, baryte, mica and quartz (AM 76.1728-1735).
