Localities

At the type locality, the Merume river, Kamakusa, Potaro-Siparuni Region, Guyana, bracewellite occurs in an alluvial placer deposit, in fine-grained intergrowth with other chromium oxide-hydroxide minerals. Associated minerals include quartz, pyrophyllite, mcconnellite, guyanaite, grimaldiite, gold, gahnite and eskolaite (Mindat).
