Chibaite is a relatively new mineral, approved in 2009 and to date (June 2023) reported only from the type locality

Localities

At the type locality, Arakawa, Minamiboso city, Chiba Prefecture, Japan, chibaite occurs as veins cutting tuffaceous sandstone and mudstone in sediments deposited near a plate margin. Associated minerals include calcite, quartz, opal, pyrite, epistilbite and clinoptilolite (HOM).
