Hydrothermal environments

Dietrichite is found as bright white fibrous efflorescences, usually a product of surface weathering (Mindat).

Localities

At the type locality, the Baia Sprie mine, Baia Sprie, Maramureș County, Romania, dietrichite occurs as post-mining efflorescences in the abandoned mine workings (HOM).

At the Blue Lizard Mine, Red Canyon Mining District, San Juan County, Utah, USA, bobcookite and wetherillite occur together as secondary alteration phases in association with boyleite, chalcanthite, dietrichite, gypsum, hexahydrite, johannite, pickeringite and rozenite (MM 79.3.695–714).
