Finnemanite is a very rare mineral.
At the type locality, Långban, Filipstad, Värmland County, Sweden, finnemanite occurs in crevices in hematite in a metamorphosed iron-manganese orebody. Associated minerals include hematite, rouseite and trigonite (HOM, Mindat).
