Rouseite is an extremely rare mineral, approved in 1984 but to date (June 2023) has been reported only from the type locality.

Localities

The type locality is Långban, Filipstad, Värmland County, Sweden. Rouseite has been found on a single museum specimen from this locality, which was collected many years ago. The matrix is a banded calcite - hausmannite ore, and secondary minerals are deposited on a fracture surface that cuts across the ore banding. The assemblage is an intimate mixture of calcite, trigonite and rouseite. Two generations of finnemanite are present. Some trigonite appears to have been replaced by rouseite (AM 71.1034-1036).
