Localities

There are two co-type localities, Silver Coin mine, Valmy, Iron Point Mining District, Humboldt county, Nevada, USA, and Wood mine, Del Rio, Del Rio Mining District, Cocke county, Tennessee, USA. Fluorwavellite was discovered in 2017. At both occurrences it is a low-temperature secondary mineral, essentially identical to wavellite in appearance and physical properties (AM 102.909-915). Associated minerals include baryte, fluorowardite, goethite, gypsum, kidwellite, quartz, rockbridgeite, chlorargyrite, crandallite, iangreyite, jarosite, lipscombite, metavariscite, turquoise and variscite (HOM).
