Localities

At the type locality, the Kamoto East Open cut, Kamoto, Kolwezi mining district, Lualaba, DR Congo, françoisite-(Nd) occurs as a rare alteration product of uraninite in a sedimentary copper-cobalt deposit as aggregates of yellow, translucent, nonfluorescent crystals up to 0.3 mm long. Associated minerals include uraninite, schoepite, uranophane-α, curite, schuilingite-(Nd), kamotoite-(Y), astrocyanite-(Ce) and masuyite (AM 75.241, HOM).
