Localities

At the type locality, Naboko cinder cone, Great Fissure eruption, Tolbachik Volcanic field, Milkovsky District, Kamchatka Krai, Russia, itelmenite was found in a fumarole as irregularly shaped grains as well as microcrystalline masses, associated with anhydrite, saranchinaite, hermannjahnite, euchlorine, thénardite, aphthitalite and hematite (MM 82.6.1233-1241).
The itelmenite occurs as sublimates on basaltic scoria near a volcanic fumarole vent at a temperature of about 600 to 610°C (HOM).
