Pegmatites

Kapitsaite-(Y) was approved in 1998, but to date (April 2025) it has been reported only from the type locality.

Localities

At the type locality, the Dara-i-Pioz Massif, Districts of Republican Subordination, Tajikistan, kapitsaite-(Y) occurs as a pale pink, sheaf-like aggregate, 1 × 3 cm in size. It is associated with quartz, reedmergnerite, leucosphenite, polylithionite, pectolite, pyrochlore, turkestanite and aegirine in a boulder of peralkaline pegmatite in the moraine of the Dari-i-Pioz glacier (AM 86.1535).
