Löweite is an uncommon mineral in marine salt deposits, in efflorescences and crusts in saline playa deposits and a volcanic sublimation product. Associated minerals include anhydrite, gypsum, vanthoffite, blödite, langbeinite, aphthitalite, epsomite, pentahydrite, hexahydrite, kieserite, mirabilite, starkeyite and thénardite (HOM).

Localities

At the type locality, Ischler Salzberg, Perneck, Bad Ischl, Gmunden District, Upper Austria, Austria, Löweite occurs in an oceanic salt deposit associated with anhydrite (Mindat).
