Maletoyvayamite is a relatively new mineral, approved in 2019.

Localities

At the type locality, the Gaching occurrence, Maletoyvayam ore field, Karaginsky District, Koryak Okrug, Krai, Russia, maletoyvayamite was discovered in a heavy-mineral concentrate from the occurrence. It forms anhedral grains, 10 to 50 μm in size, and is found in intergrowths with native gold, gold the telluride calaverite, unnamed phases (AuSe, Au2TeSe and Au oxide), native tellurium, the sulfosalts tennantite, tetrahedrite, goldfieldite and watanabeite and supergene tripuhyite (MM 84.1.117-123).
