Tolstykhite is a new mineral. approved in 2022 and to date (March 2023) reported only from the type locality.

Localities

At the type locality, the Gaching occurrence, Maletoyvayam ore field, Kamchatka Krai, Russia, tolstykhite occurs in the epithermal deposit as individual anhedral grains up to 0.05 mm or as intergrowths with native selenium, native tellurium and tripuhyite. Other associated minerals include calaverite, fischesserite, stibiogoldfieldite, arsenogoldfieldite, tennantite-(Cu), tetrahedrite-(Zn), galena, gold, maletoyvayamite, famatiniteluzonite, pyrite, baryte, ilmenite, magnetite, quartz and vanadium-bearing rutile. Tolstykhite is bluish-grey, opaque with metallic lustre and grey streak (MM 87.10.34-39).
