Environments
Manganonewberyite is a new mineral, approved in 2024 and to date (August 2025) reported only from the
type locality.
Localities
At the type locality, the Cassagna Mine, Ne, Genoa, Liguria, Italy, manganonewberyite was found underground
as a secondary phase formed by the interaction of bat guano
with manganese-rich rock. Manganonewberyite occurs with
niahite, kutnohorite,
sampleite and
serrabrancaite on a
tinzenite – quartz –
braunite matrix. Crystals are prisms and blades, up to about 0.15 mm long
(MM 89.2.250–256).
