Localities

At the type locality, the Chelkar salt dome, Aksai Valley, Shalkar District, Aktobe Region, Kazakhstan, metaborite occurs in aggregates up to 1 cm in size in rock salt with small amounts of anhydrite, boracite, aksaite, ginorite, hilgardite, strontioborite and halurgite. Metaborite is replaced by boracite and ginorite (AM 50.261-268).
