Localities

At the type locality, the Tashelginskoye Fe-(Co) deposit, Tashelga River, Gornaya Shoria Region, Kemerovo Oblast, Russia, mukhinite occurs as irregular grains up to 5 mm across, and as irregular, short prismatic crystals up to 1 x 2.5 mm; it is associated with goldmanite in areas of marble enriched in pale green muscovite and disseminated pyrite, pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite and sphalerite (AM 55.317-323).

At the Kuznetsk Alatau Range, Russia, mukhinite occurs as a late-stage mineral in garnet-bearing metamorphic rocks. Associated minerals include garnet, diopside, titanite, quartz, clinozoisite, galena and molybdenite (HOM).
