Localities

At the Onello meteorite, Bol'shoy Dolguchan River, Onello River basin, Aldan shield, Sakha, Russia, nickelphosphide is associated with allabogdanite (HOM).

At the type locality. the Butler meteorite, Bates County, Missouri, USA, nickelphosphide occurs in the iron meteorite as isometric grains, to 30 μm, in kamacite lamellae, and as xenomorphous elongate inclusions, up to 200 μm long, in larger kamacite spindles. Associated minerals include kamacite, taenite, carlsbergite, schreibersite and barringerite (Mindat).
