Hydrothermal environments

Penikisite is a very rare weathering product in fractures in sideritic iron formations, associated with kulanite, quartz, siderite, fluorapatite, rapidcreekite, brazilianite, arrojadite, anatase and goyazite (HOM).

Localities

At the type locality, Rapid Creek, Dawson mining district, Yukon, Canada, penikisite occurs in zones in well formed blue to green kulanite-penikisite crystals (CM 15.393-395).
