Although shabynite was approved as long ago as 1979, to date (August 2025) it has been reported only from the type locality.

Localities

At the type locality, the Korshunovskoye iron deposit, Zheleznogorsk-Ilimsky, Nizhneilimsky District, Irkutsk Oblast, Russia, shabynite occurs in veinlets, to 1 cm thick, in a brecciated dolomitic marble in the skarn magnetite deposit. Associated minerals include dolomite, korshunovskite, ekaterinite, dashkovaite, iowaite and halite (HOM, Mindat).
