There are two co-type localities, Binn Valley, Valais, Switzerland, and the Lengenbach Quarry, Fäld, Binn, Goms, Valais, Switzerland.

At Lengenbach, sinnerite occurs on sulphides in crystalline dolostone. Associated minerals include realgar, coloradoite, tennantite, galena and sphalerite (HOM).
