Pegmatites

Tavorite is a late-stage secondary oxidation product of earlier phosphates in lithium-bearing granite pegmatites, associated with barbosalite, heterosite, ferrisicklerite, triphylite, hureaulite, rockbridgeite, jahnsite and vivianite (HOM, AM 40.952-966).

At the type locality, the Sapucaia mine, Minas Gerais, Brazil, tavorite occurs as late stage phosphate mineralisation disseminated in porous triphylite and heterosite in a granite pegmatite, associated with barbosalite, hureaulite, jahnsite, rockbridgeite, triphylite and vivianite (Mindat, Dana).
