Localities

At the type locality,the Severnyi area, Zardalek alkaline massif, Sokh Valley, Batken Region, Kyrgyzstan, thorutite occurs as short black prismatic crystals up to 2 cm in length and 0.5 to 1.0 cm in diameter. It is found in a syenite massif in veins of microcline and sericitised nepheline. Associated minerals are thorite, zircon, calcite, and a little baryte and galena (AM 43.1007).
