Alfredopetrovite was approved in 2015 but to date (May 2023) it has been reported only from the type locality.

Localities

At the type locality, El Dragón mine, Porco Municipality, Antonio Quijarro Province, Potosí, Bolivia, alfredopetrovite is a new secondary selenite mineral that occurs in vugs in a matrix of cobalt-rich krut'aitepenroseite, dolomite and goethite. Associated minerals include ahlfeldite, allophane, calcite, chalcomenite, favreauite, felsőbányaite, malachite and molybdenite. Crystals of alfredopetrovite occur in drusy/scaly coatings and compact balls to 0.5 mm in diameter. Individual crystals are up to about 0.1 mm across (EJM 28.2.479–484).
