Hydrothermal environments

Clinosafflorite occurs in hydrothermal cobalt-nickel sulphide ores which are typically silver-bearing (Webmin, HOM), associated with skutterudite, cattierite, cobaltite, siegenite, bismuth, silver, molybdenite, dolomite and baryte (HOM, Mindat).

Localities

At the type locality, the Cobalt area, Cobalt-Gowganda region, Timiskaming District, Ontario, Canada, clinosafflorite occurs in hydrothermal cobalt-nickel-arsenic veins (Mindat).

At Bou Azzer, Morocco, clinosafflorite is widespread, and associated with nickelskutterudite (Minrec 38.5.366).
