Decrespignyite-(Y) is a rare mineral, to date (August 2021) known only from its type locality.

Localities

At the type locality, the Paratoo copper mine, Yunta, Olary Province, South Australia, decrespignyite-(Y) is a supergene mineral occurring in narrow fissures of a fine-grained dolomitic slatestone. Associated minerals are muscovite, caysichite-(Y), donnayite-(Y), kamphaugite-(Y), malachite, nontronite, limonite pseudomorphs after pyrite, calcite and gypsum. Other rare earth minerals found in the deposit but not directly asociated with decrespignyite-(Y) include a Y-rich bastnäsite-(La) and a Y-rich calcioancylite-(Nd) (Minrec 35.2.177 abstracted from MM 66.181-188).
