Hydrothermal environments

Although erniggliite was approved in 1987, to date (December 2022) it has been reported only from the type locality.

Localities

At the type locality, the Lengenbach Quarry, Fäld, Binn, Goms, Valais, Switzerland, erniggliite occurs in a hydrothermal deposit in dolostone. Associated minerals include hutchinsonite, hatchite, wallisite, lorándite, bernardite, realgar, orpiment, edenharterite and stalderite (HOM).
