At the type locality, Placer deposit, Northern Pekul'ney River, Pekul'ney Range, Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, Russia,
ferronickelplatinum was found in the heavy fraction of alluvial deposits associated with
ultramafics from the
ophiolite belt of the region. It occurs in intergrowths of
platinum group minerals which occur as
grains ranging in size from 0.2-4.5 mm. Ferronickelplatinum occurs as a minor constituent, associated with
rutheniridosmine,
isoferroplatinum,
tetraferroplatinum, laurite,
irarsite, cooperite,
sperrylite, hollingworthite,
chromite, olivine and
cherepanovite
(AM 69.1190-1191, Mindat).
