Rutheniridosmine occurs in placer sands, generally derived from ultramafic rocks. Associated minerals include other osmiumiridiumruthenium alloys, sperrylite, hollingworthite, iridarsenite, ruthenarsenite, michenerite, laurite, geversite, moncheite and chromite (HOM).
