Associated minerals include merenskyite, melonite, sobolevskite, michenerite, kotulskite, froodite, sperrylite, cooperite, laurite, braggite, insizwaite, gold, pyrrhotite, pentlandite, chalcopyrite and pyrite (HOM).

Localities

The type locality, the Monchegorsk Cu-Ni Deposit, Monchegorsk, Murmansk Oblast, Russia, is a platinum-bearing massive copper-nickel sulphide deposit. Moncheite occurs in chalcopyrite as grains mostly hundredths of a millimetre in size (AM 48.1181).
