Igneous environments

Froodite occurs in palladium-platinum bearing layered or pipelike ultramafic intrusives. Associated minerals include chalcopyrite, cubanite, pyrite, pentlandite, altaite, hessite, galena, bismuth, pyrrhotite, tsumoite, parkerite, sudburyite, michenerite, sperrylite, insizwaite, niggliite, cabriite and mooihoekite (HOM).

Localities

At the type locality, the Frood mine, McKim Township, Sudbury District, Ontario, Canada, froodite was found in mill concentrates of arsenic and lead-copper rich ores (AM 44.207).
