Localities

At the type locality, the Copper Cliff South Mine, Snider Township, Sudbury District, Ontario, Canada, sudburyite occurs as inclusions in either arsenic-bearing sulphosalts or arsenides, most frequently in cobaltite and maucherite, and it is also closely associated with breithauptite, galena, nickeline and chalcopyrite. Pentlandite, pyrrhotite and michenerite also occurred in the samples (CM 12.275-279).

At the Yangliuping Cu-Ni-PGE ore field, Danba county, Garzê Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan, China, sudburyite is associated with pyrrhotite, pentlandite, chalcopyrite, violarite, cubanite, bornite, sphalerite, galena, linnaeite, magnetite, testibiopalladite, sperrylite, omeiite and gold (HOM).
