Hydrothermal environments

Gratonite occurs in vugs in hydrothermal copper ores. Associated minerals include realgar, pyrite, sphalerite, pyrrhotite, arsenopyrite, enargite, tetrahedrite, tennantite, jordanite, canfieldite and hutchinsonite (HOM).

Localities

The type locality is Excelsior Mine, Cerro de Pasco, Pasco province, Pasco, Peru.
