Pegmatites

Hydroxylbenyacarite is a new mineral, approved in 2023 and to date (November 2024) reported only from the type locality.

Localities

At the type locality, El Criollo Mine, Cerro Blanco pegmatite district, Tanti, San Roque District, Punilla Department, Córdoba Province, Argentina, hydroxylbenyacarite was found in specimens of altered triplite, in association with bermanite, phosphosiderite, quartz, strengite and manganese oxides. Hydroxylbenyacarite occurs as light greenish-yellow rhombic tablets with dimensions of typically 20 to 50 μm, occasionally to 400 μm (MM 88.3.327–).
