Hydroxylpyromorphite is a relatively new mineral, approved in 2017.

Localities

At the type locality, Copps Mine, Marenisco, Gogebic iron range, Gogebic County, Michigan, USA, hydroxylpyromorphite occurs as aggregates of randomly oriented hexagonal prisms, primarily between about 20–35 μm in length and 6–10 μm in diameter. The formation is mainly composed of metagraywacke and conglomeratic, ferruginous quartzite. Associated minerals include lazaraskeite, chrysocolla, muscovite, orthoclase, calcite and quartz (Mindat).
