Localities
At the type locality, the Kawazu mine, Rendaiji, Shimoda City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, kinichilite occurs
as a hexagonal prism less than 2 mm long in the oxidation zone of a low-temperature
gold - silver -
tellurium quartz vein
(AM 67.621-624, Mindat).

At the Moctezuma Mine, Moctezuma, Moctezuma Municipality, Sonora, Mexico, kinichilite occurs as
translucent dark brown, sharp hexagonal prisms to 2 mm with pyramidal terminations, associated with
quartz and xocolatlite (?)
(Minrec 55.6.843).

At the Upper dumps, North Star Mine, Mammoth, Tintic Mining District, Juab County, Utah, USA, a single specimen of
kinichilite was found. The purplish brown crystals range from tiny bundles of fibrous crystals to single,
