Localities

At the type locality, Deposit No. 33, Inder B deposit and salt dome, Inder, Atyrau Region, Kazakhstan, kurnakovite occurs as dense white aggregates as irregular lenses in szaibélyite, in a borate deposit (Mindat).

At the South Meridian claim, Twenty Mule Team Canyon, Furnace Creek Mining District, Inyo county, California, USA, hungchaoite occurs with ginorite, mcallisterite, sborgite, sassolite, nobleite, ulexite, and, where gypsum and ulexite are abundant, with kurnakovite, inderite and mcallisterite in surficial matrix as products from weathered colemanite and priceite veins in late Tertiary (66 million to 2.6 million years ago) rocks (AM 64.369-375).
