The type locality is the João Teodoro claim, Linópolis, Divino das Laranjeiras, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
At the Palermo No. 1 Mine, Groton, grafton County, New Hampshire, USA, lefontite has been confirmed as brown,
elongated prismatic crystals to 1 mm, occurring with childrenite and
eosphorite
(R&M 97.3.226-227).
Also natropalermoite occurs here as a
secondary mineral, formed as a result of hydrothermal
alteration of primary
triphylite pods in the core-margin zone of the
granite
pegmatite, and is associated with
palermoite, childrenite,
lefontite, mixed iron oxides and
quartz
(AM 102.2345).
