Localities

At the type locality, the Aghbar open pit, Aghbar, Tansifite Caïdat, Agdz Cercle, Zagora Province, Drâa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco, maghrebite is associated with quartz, erythrite, talmessite/roselite, arseniosiderite, wendwilsonite, pharmacoalumite and cabalzarite. It results from the weathering of cobalt arsenides in a hydrothermal copper - nickel - arsenic - (copper - uranium - molybdenum) vein. Maghrebite forms lozenge-shaped prismatic crystals up to 0.2 mm in length; it is colourless and translucent with a vitreous lustre (EJM 24.717-726, HOM).
