Metamorphic environments

Malayaite is associated with hydrothermal alteration of a cassiterite-quartz assemblage and associated with varlamoffite in wollastonite-diopside and other tin-bearing skarns. It also occurs in granitic pegmatites (Dana). Other associated minerals include cassiterite, quartz, calcite, wollastonite, pyroxene and garnet (HOM).
