Localities

At the type locality, Uchucchacua Mine, Uchucchacua area, Oyón District, Oyón Province, Lima, Peru, manganoquadratite occurs as dark grey, anhedral to subhedral grains up 0.5 mm across, closely associated with alabandite, Mn-rich calcite, Mn-rich sphalerite, proustite, pyrite, pyrrhotite, tennantite, argentotennantite, stannite, and other unnamed minerals of the system Pb-Ag-Sb-Mn-As-S.
Manganoquadratite is opaque with a metallic lustre and a reddish-brown streak. Internal reflections are absent (AM 97.7.1199-1205).
The occurrence is a complex vein-type polymetallic hydrothermal deposit (HOM).
