Plášilite is a relatively new mineral, approved in 2013.

Localities

At the type locality, the Blue Lizard Mine, Red Canyon Mining District, San Juan County, Utah, USA, plášilite is of low-temperature secondary origin related to the post-mining oxidation of uraninite, pyrite, chalcopyrite, bornite and covellite disseminated in lenses of organic matter in sandstone. Associated minerals include atacamite, blödite, brochantite, chalcanthite, dickite, gerhardtite, gypsum, hexahydrite, johannite, manganoblödite, natrozippeite and tamarugite (HOM).
