Localities

At the Hemlo gold deposit, Bomby Township, Thunder Bay District, Ontario, Canada routhierite occurs as anhedral grains up to 300 pm across, associated with pyrite, stibnite, realgar, cinnabar, parapierrotite, molybdenite, sphalerite and tetrahedrite-tennantite AM 75.935, HOM).

At the type locality, Jas Roux, La Chapelle-en-Valgaudemar, Hautes-Alpes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France, routhierite occurs in complex, epithermal, sediment-hosted, thallium-rich ores in hydrothermal deposits in dolostone (Webmin, HOM). Associated minerals include realgar, stibnite, pierrotite, sphalerite, pyrite and smithite (HOM ).
