Turanite is a rare secondary oxidation mineral in vanadium-bearing mineral deposits. Associated minerals include tangeite, other vanadates, uranovanadates, malachite, calcite and baryte (HOM).

Localities

At the type locality, the Tyuya-Muyun Cu-V-U deposit, Tyuya-Muyun Massif, Aravan District, Osh Region, Kyrgyzstan, turanite occurs as spherulite aggregates in cavities in baryte (Webmin). Associated minerals include tangeite, quartz, malachite and calcite, as well as baryte (Mindat).
