Localities

At the Sjögruvan, Grythyttan, Hällefors, Örebro County, Sweden, welinite is associated with hausmannite and dolomite (AM 53.1064).

At the type locality, the Långban Mine, Långban Ore District, Filipstad, Värmland County, Sweden, welinite occurs in small amounts embedded in calcite, baryte, sarkinite and adelite, fillings fissure in compact hausmannite ore.
Welinite occurs as resinous, deep red-brown to reddish-black up to 2 cm crystal sections (AM 53.1064).
