At the Sjögruvan, Grythyttan, Hällefors, Örebro County, Sweden, welinite is associated with
hausmannite and dolomite
(AM 53.1064).
At the type locality, the Långban Mine, Långban Ore District, Filipstad, Värmland County, Sweden, welinite
occurs in small amounts embedded in calcite,
baryte, sarkinite and
adelite, fillings fissure in compact
hausmannite ore.
Welinite occurs as resinous, deep red-brown to reddish-black up to 2 cm crystal sections
(AM 53.1064).
