Hydrothermal environments

Chabournéite occurs in hydrothermal veins in dolomite, commonly associated with sphalerite (Mindat).

Localities

At the Tohya mine, Takarada, Abuta District, Shiribeshi Subprefecture, Hokkaidō Prefecture, Japan, chabournéite is associated with getchellite, sphalerite and baryte (AM 67.621).

At the type locality, Jas Roux, La Chapelle-en-Valgaudemar, Gap, Hautes-Alpes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France, chabournéite occurs in dolomitic limestone. Associated minerals include realgar, pierrotite, parapierrotite, routhierite, laffittite, smithite and stibnite (AM 64.242, 67.621).
