Pegmatites

Although dusmatovite was approved in 1994, to date (May 2025) it has been reported only from the type locality.

Localities

At the type locality, the Dara-i-Pioz Massif, Districts of Republican Subordination, Tajikistan, dusmatovite occurs as aggregates to 40 x 50 mm in size and as single grains; it is dark blue, dirty blue or violet-brown in colour, translucent with a vitreous lustre and a light blue streak. It was found in a boulder of pegmatite in glacial moraine of the Dara-i-Pioz glacier. The boulder consists of quartz and microcline with minor aegirine, tadzhikite-(Ce), kupletskite-(Cs), hyalotekite, betafite and polylithionite (AM 82.430-433).
